** This post is a little long but bear with me **
Happy Birthday Pop. If I had known when we took this photo that it would be your last birthday how much more I would have said. How much more we would have done together. But you raised a strong person and even then I don’t do it alone. Aside from my wonderful family I was blessed with I have a second family in my dance community.
I was fresh off the Queen Mary from L.A Zouk Festival 2017 with so much love and joy from my dance family. I had missed most of your birthday because of that and you didn’t mind, just happy to see me pursing my passion and love of dance. I had just conquered my fear of speaking publicly with my presentation for Priceless MVMT and found nothing but the greatest support from everyone around me. You made sure I knew how proud you were that I’m going back to school for Dance/Movement Therapy so that I can use my passion to help others experience the power of expression. You were always looking out for me and all you wanted was for me to be happy. After this weekend surrounded by beautiful loving people and being here on your birthday wishing I had just one more moment with you. I love you daddy and I know you’re watching over me still. Te quiero mucho para siempre.
Thank you for those of you who read this far and for all the love I have received since my dad’s sudden passing. Thank you for supporting The Priceless Movement (even though our timetable got sent waaaaay back) I appreciate you all understanding that it’s been a rough road this past year, but we are still moving forward. Even if it is only one baby step at a time we are still just as passionate for empowering others with the loving healing power that is dance! So it may be a while more but I just ask for your continued patience. My dad instilled a work ethic that I am forever grateful for and am determined to have the best set up before we move any farther to ensure sustainability.
Stay tuned and never take the people you love for granted. Make sure they know your heart because we are never guaranteed another day.
Thank you for my Zouk mommas Christina Montoya and Marissa Rivera - your love and patience are a big part of how I am able to keep myself together and I am so blessed to have you in my life.
A special thank you to Shani for making such an amazing Festival and spreading love for Zouk 💕and for everyone tagged in this post for your constant love and support. I know anyone of you would (or most have already) be there for me through one of the most difficult times in my life so far.
